Become a Tutor

At Greater London Tutors we want to build close, tight relationships with our tutors. We look to recruit engaging and committed individuals who are passionate about the subjects they teach, but also share our satisfaction and pleasure in helping children (and adults!) to learn and succeed. We have no minimum or maximum age requirements, but we do look for people who will be able to relate to their pupils and build rapport in a way that extends beyond a teacher pupil relationship.

While teaching skills and qualifications are helpful, and respected by our agency, there is a difference between one-on-one tuition and classroom teaching. Similarly, there is a difference in approach, and often personality, between those who excel in a class room, and those who can get the most out of pupils in a one-on-one environment.

Greater London tutors can expect to gain more clients the better the reviews they have from clients, and we will help them to develop professionally throughout their time with us.

Requirements

  • In order to become a tutor with Greater London Tutors you must
  • have an undergraduate honours degree in the relvant subject(s)
  • attend an interview
  • attend a Greater London Tutors training session

The Process

To apply to become a tutor with Greater London Tutors, you must email us and attach your CV.

If you are accepted, you will be invited for interview to which you will be required to bring

  • a valid passport
  • full documentation of qualifications
  • a valid Enhanced Disclosure from the Criminal Records Bureau (If you do not have an Enhanced Disclosure, please notify us of this on your application form. You will then be invited to attend a Greater London Tutors training seminar. This lasts about 4 hours, and covers many different aspects of teaching in a one-on-one environment. This seminar is useful even to tutors who have been operating for a while as it is a great opportunity for them to express their views and experiences, while adding the suggestions of others to their own repertoires.
